David – Kipper Life

Meet David

For this week’s Freshmill Friday we have David from Kipper Life! They publish four monthly community magazines in Lindfield, Cuckfield, Hurstpierpoint and Hassocks. David started his first title back in 2009 with Lindfield Life and with his amazing team, they have been adding to the family ever since.

‘’I’m a graphic designer by trade, but changed the business back in 2012 to focus purely on community magazines and now, I am proud to be the editor of magazines which enlighten and engage our readers in these four villages. We put our content alongside advertisements of superb local businesses – thus helping them reach an audience of local people who love where they live.”

David at Freshmill

”As we expanded we started looking for potential office and coworking space and that’s when we stumbled upon Freshmill. We first looked around Freshmill when it was in the middle of its renovations before it opened but – at the time – it didn’t work for us. However, Covid has played its part in changing a couple of practical elements of the business, and now Freshmill provides a great opportunity to base the business in a cool (both physically and the vibe) office space.

Whilst the whole Kipper team is up to 9 of us, our office space here is a base for myself, as editor, and Emily as office manager. We began at Freshmill by hot-desking, in order to see what working from here would be like. We did that for a couple of months, but soon realised that we’d like to have all our stuff around us and so took the opportunity to sign up for a small office. One of the benefits of Freshmill is that we can bring in our disparate team, for meetings, to work from here occasionally or just on the off-chance to have a quick catch up. The place looks great, Seb and Jeehanee on the front desk are super-friendly and our small (but perfectly branded!) space here feels like the right place to be.”

Future Ambitions

”We have ambitions to continue to expand the business and when we do we know Freshmill will be able to help. They offer the flexibility to upscale to a bigger office space, which is super beneficial when you’re a small company and need to adapt. Emily and I love being at Freshmill! Whether you are running your own business from your home, and want to separate the space between work and home or you’re based at home working for a company but want to feel like you’re in an office environment again – Freshmill is a great place to be!’’

Thanks David! 🙂
