1. What is your name and what is the name of your business?

Chris Daines – Sussex Tech Ltd

2. What does the business do and who are your customers?

We provide IT Support, IT Security and IT Automation services to small and medium-size firms exclusively in Sussex.

3. What’s the history of the business & what’s your role within the business?

We started the business four years ago. My role is Marketing and Business Development.

4. How long have you had an office here at Freshmill and why were you looking for a space like this?

We have had a private office at Freshmill for the past four years. It gives us a base to work from and grow into.

5. Why does Freshmill work well for you and your business?

It works well as we don’t need to worry about, all the headaches that come with managing your own office space. As we grow, we’ll hopefully be able to move to a larger office within the centre.

We like the ability to use the meeting rooms to host our Customer Round Table Events.

6. What is the most important lesson you have gained from your career so far?

There are many, but the two that stand out are to always act with integrity and look after the people that work for you. Do these two things and everything else will fall into place.

7. Where do you hope to be in 5 years’ time?

In five years time! Hopefully still here working in Sussex, steadily building Sussex Tech and finding a good work / life balance now I’m in my 50’s.

8. What advice would you give your younger self just starting out?

Lots! Probably to relax and enjoy each day more ( live in the moment) and not let things / people that aren’t important get me down.

9. What is your favourite quote/mantra?

It was something my grandad told me as a kid “You can only try your best, but only you know if you are actually trying your best”..

10. If you could, who would you switch places with for the day, and why?

It would have to be Elon Musk. I have no idea how he can run all his firms, advise the president of the United States and live. I think it would be fascinating to see how he exists and what he’s exposed to.
